An infusion pump includes a housing； a user interface carried by the housing； a pump actuator positioned by the housing so as to be able to actuate a medical fluid pump member； and wherein the user interface and the pump actuator are powered interchangeably by a first, rechargeable battery unit and a second battery unit, both the first and second battery units configured to power the user interface and the pump actuator at a place for which outside power is unavailable, and such that the user interface and the pump actuator can be powered by the second battery unit while the first battery unit is being recharged.
