PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opthalmological device which performs quantitative measurement of seriousness of dry eye reliably by simple constitution.
SOLUTION: An oil film pattern 10a which appears in an oil layer and noise are removed from the image of a tear fluid oil layer 10 on the cornea 11 of the eye to be examined to smooth the image of the tear fluid oil layer. Then, the smoothed image of the tear fluid oil layer is scanned with a scanning line 12 to extract the contour of the oil layer to calculate the area of the oil layer. The tear fluid oil layer is extended while showing a behavior which can be approximate to a viscoelastic body after opening the eyelid, and the first velocity of the extension is increased in proportion to the increase of the stored amount of the tear fluid. Then, the hourly change ratio of the area of the oil layer when opening the eyelid is obtained as a value showing the amount of the tear fluid. Since the hourly change ratio of the area is calculated by obtaining the area of the smoothed image of the tear fluid oil layer in a constitution like this, dry eye is quantitated reliably.
