The invention relates to a method for the extraction of organic compounds from the plant Dittrichia graveolens by means of straight steam distillation. The method of the invention can be used to obtain an essential oil and a hydrolate, without requiring the use of organic solvents, both of which have biocidal activity, notably the acaricide and insecticide activity of the essential oil, particularly the ability to repel aphids and ticks and to eliminate same. The organic fraction of the hydrolate also has the ability to repel or combat aphids and ticks, as well as insecticide and nematicide activity. Thus, the extracts obtained can be used for the control of pests such as ticks, insects such as aphids or lepidoptera, or nematodes, with applications in the agricultural, veterinarian, pharmaceutical and other fields. Compounds responsible for such activities are also identified and the biocidal use of extracts from the plant containing same or compositions thereof is proposed.
