In some embodiments, the ophthalmic device can be a contact lens with an intraocular pressure monitoring system that is not dependent on eye ball shape or change over time. Further, the intraocular pressure monitoring system may include elements for delivering audible and/or visual messages to the user that can be useful for the monitoring and treatment of glaucoma.
