The present invention is directed to a method for improving the occlusiveness of a topical pharmaceutical or cosmetic formulation in use in a patient in need thereof, comprising adding to the formulation at least 0.1- to about 10% w/w of one or more of a monofatty acid ester of glycerin and/or one or more of a monofatty acid ester of glycol, or mixtures thereof. The present invention is also directed to a method for maintaining skin barrier efficiency of the stratum corneum of a patient in need thereof, comprising applying to the skin of said patient a pharmaceutical or cosmetic formulation containing at least 3 % w/w of one or more of a monofatty acid ester of glycerin and/or one or more of a monofatty acid ester of glycol, or mixtures thereof.La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant d'améliorer capacité d'occlusion d'une formulation pharmaceutique ou cosmétique topique utilisée chez un patient le nécessitant, comprenant l'ajout à la formulation d'au moins 0,1 à environ 10 % p/p d'un ou de plusieurs composés parmi un monoester d'acide gras de glycérine et/ou un monoester d'acide gras de glycol ou des mélanges de ceux-ci. La présente invention concerne également un procédé permettant de maintenir l'efficacité de la barrière cutanée de la couche cornée d'un patient le nécessitant, comprenant l'application sur la peau dudit patient d'une formulation pharmaceutique ou cosmétique contenant au moins 3 % p/p d'un ou de plusieurs composés parmi un monoester d'acide gras de glycérine et/ou un monoester d'acide gras de glycol ou des mélanges de ceux-ci.
