The present invention relates to: [1] a pest repellent agent which has a surface tension of 40 mN/m or less at 25ºC and a viscosity of 1200 mPa·s or less at 23 ºC as measured with a B-type rotary viscometer, and contains, as an active ingredient, at least one liquid oily component selected from the group consisting of a silicone oil, an ester oil, an ether oil, a hydrocarbon oil, an aliphatic higher alcohol having 14 or more carbon atoms, and a polyhydric alcohol； [2] a pest repellent composition which contains the liquid oily component and does not contain an effective amount of another pest repellent agent； and [3] a pest repellent method comprising applying the pest repellent agent or the pest repellent composition onto the surface of the skin of a human body in such a manner that the amount of the liquid oily component can become 0.1 mg or more per 1 cm2.
