PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a metal-metal oxide composite material for dental prosthesis having excellent toughness, strength and biocompatibility and also having satisfactory aesthetics.SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a metal-metal oxide composite material for dental prosthesis, titanium or a titanium alloy as a substrate is subjected to high temperature heat treatment to oxidize the surface of the base material and to form a film having high whiteness. It is preferable that the titanium or titanium alloy is heat-treated at 800 to 1,200°C for 20 min to 24 hr in the air or in oxygen.
