The disclosure relates to a protective sleeve-type medical package for packaging a medical element, for instance a medical instrument or implant, the protective sleeve-type medical package comprising: - an elongated tubular protective sleeve configured to accommodate the medical element, wherein the tubular protective sleeve comprises at least one stretchable sleeve portion configured to enable the tubular protective sleeve to be stretched in longitudinal direction and wherein the tubular protective sleeve has at least one opening for removal of the medical element - a removable closure member configured to seal off the at least one opening of the tubular protective sleeve.
