PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary self-propelled endoscope system with stable insertion and removal property, which is capable of preventing an insertion part and equipment from being damaged when an unreasonable load is applied to the insertion part and the equipment of a rotary self-propelled endoscope.

SOLUTION: The system includes: the insertion part 10 having a helical tube 51 freely turnable around a major axis with a helical shape part 51a formed on the front surface a driving part 59 for giving rotary driving force around the major axis to the helical tube a detecting device 65 (75) for detecting the rotary driving state of the helical tube and controllers 3, 66 for inputting the detection result of the detecting device and controlling the driving part, on the basis of the detection result.
