PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a greening base which is prevented from change in shape, loss of shape and/or the like, and easily inserted into the groove of a wall surface panel with hands and to provide a method for producing the greening base.SOLUTION: The greening base (11) for wall surface greening plant includes a molded body which is obtained by shaping culture soil in which the wall surface greening plant can be planted, and is housed in a front surface-open groove (10) formed on the outer surface of a wall (1) and opened outwards. The greening base includes: a molded body (20) made of solidified culture soil obtained by shaping the cross section orthogonal to the groove into a polygonal cross section and an exterior covering material (14) covering the corner area of the molded body extending in a longitudinal direction of the groove for reinforcing shape retentivity of the solidified culture soil.
