A cosmetic agent comprising at least one compound of formula (I) and at least one deodorant active ingredient in at least one cosmetically compatible carrier. R1 denotes a linear or branched C8 to C20 alkyl group, R2 denotes a linear C1 to C4 alkyl group, and X- denotes a physiologically compatible anion. The at least one deodorant active ingredient is selected from the group consisting of triethyl citrate, 3-[(2-ethylhexyl)oxy]-1,2-propanediol, 2-benzylheptanol, alkane diols having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, tropolone, silver salts, alkaline earth oxides, cationic pyridine compounds, zinc salts, phosphates, sorbitan esters, tartaric acids, hydroxamic acids, gluconolactones, polyglycerol esters, and mixtures thereof. Also claimed is a non-therapeutic cosmetic method for preventing and/or reducing body odour by applying the cosmetic agent to the skin. In particular, the cosmetic agent may be used to prevent/reduce the body odour triggered by perspiration.
