The present invention relates generally to the field of molecular biology and concerns a method for enhancing yield-related traits in plants, in particular for increasing plant yield and/or early vigour, relative to control plants. More specifically, the present invention concerns a method for enhancing yield-related traits comprising preferentially increasing expression of a nucleic acid encoding a HAL3 polypeptide in the shoot of a plant. The present invention also concerns plants having preferentially increased expression of a nucleic acid encoding a HAL3 polypeptide in the shoot, which plants have increased yield and/or early vigour relative to control plants. The invention also provides constructs useful in the methods of the invention.
