An apparatus for cultivating plants, includes a cabinet having a cultivating space, a door to open or close the cultivating space, a bed provided in the cultivating space and used to cultivate the plants, a light assembly to irradiate the bed with light necessary for photosynthesis, a water tank to store water to be supplied to the bed, and a machine compartment provided at a lower portion of the cabinet, and separated from the cultivating space to communicate with an external space and to receive a compressor and a condenser which form a cooling cycle to adjust a temperature of the cultivating space. The water tank is provided inside the cultivating space spaced apart from the machine compartment.
