The present invention relates to a dual bearing reel (100) which easily installs a mechanism interlocking with a spool arranged opposite to a handle, in a reel body while a size of the reel body in a vertical direction opposite to the handle is reduced. The dual bearing reel (100) of the present invention comprises a reel body (2), a spool (3), a handle (4), and a spool shaft (10). The reel body (2) includes a first side plate (11) which is opened in an axial direction of the spool shaft (10) and has a first opening part (11a) through which the spool (3) can pass, a second side plate (12) facing the first side plate (11), and a second side cover (8) which is mounted on the second side plate (12). The spool (3) has a string winding body part (3a) and a second flange part (3c). The handle (4) is installed to be rotated toward the first side plate (11) of the reel body (2).
