The invention relates to a device for removing buds (8) and young shoots (9) which grow on the stem (6) of vines or woody fruit plants. The device is composed of a shaft (1) with a handle (20) at the upper end and a brush (3) at the lower end. The brush (3) has bristles (4) consisting of a stable, elastically compliant material, in particular plastic. Handle (20), shaft (1) and brush (3) are angled-off with respect to one another in order to facilitate working with the implement. The brush (3) is moved up and down over the stem (6) of the plant; the buds (8) and young shoots (9) are thus brushed away without there being any danger of damaging the bark. <IMAGE>
