A spandex fibre and method of manufacture providing enhanced adhesive characteristics with hot melt adhesives, the spandex fibre comprising a polyurethane urea polymer and an adhesion promoter chosen from methyl-styrene, polymers or co-polymers based there off at a weight percent of 0.1 to 30. The fibre is then spun. The polyurethane urea may be formed by reacting a polyether glycol with an aromatic diisocyante in a nitrogen atmosphere, dissolving the resulting prepolymer in solvent and adding aliphatic diamine then adding the chosen adhesion enhancer. 1 wt% of triethylene glycol-bis-3-(3-tertiary-butyl-4-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)propionate may be added as an antioxidant and 2 wt% of titanium oxide as a delustrant.
