The enclosure comprises an integrally molded elastomeric polymer sheath having an interior cavity, which substantially conforms to the size and shape of at least the distal end of the at least one digit of the subject having the at least one infected nail. The sheath has an open end and a closed end, tapering from the closed end to the open end. The elastomeric polymer sheath comprises an elastomeric polymer film having oil resistance and low oxygen permeability. A method of using the device to treat the infected nail is provided.
