Disclosed is a cleansing composition comprising: (i) a non-soap surfactant which is an alkyi glycinate, alkyi carboxy glycinate, sarcosinate, glutamate or a mixture thereof and, (ii) one or more antimicrobial agent, wherein pH of said composition is at least 8.5 and zein number of said composition is in the range of 10 to 65 and wherein soap content of said composition is not greater than 5 wt%. The formulation is highly alkaline, yet gives mild antibacterial cleansing action.Linvention concerne une composition de nettoyage comprenant : (i) un tensio-actif non-savon qui est un alkyl glycinate, un alkyl carboxy glycinate, sarcosinate, glutamate ou un mélange de ceux-ci et (ii) un ou plusieurs agents antimicrobiens, le pH de ladite composition étant au moins 8,5 et le nombre de zéines de ladite composition se situe dans la plage de 10 à 65 et la teneur en savon de ladite composition nest pas supérieure à 5 % en poids.
