In use a plunger 24 is pulled away from the rear end of a syringe housing 21 to set a dose and moves forward into the housing on injection of the dose. A projection 37 is resiliently carried on the plunger 24 and co-operates with a multi start internal screw threading 32, 34 carried by the syringe housing to index a ring 25 a preset amount. On forward, return, movement of the plunger, the projection 37 encounters a ramp 33 and so it traverses the ring without indexing it.
