PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing resin particles capable of efficiently imparting desired functions to the surfaces of the resin particles according to a simple method, and to provide the resin particles prepared by the method.SOLUTION: The method for producing the resin particles comprises melt-mixing a thermoplastic resin or an elastomer having acidic groups with filler particles and a water-soluble material, forming a resin composition in which resin micro-particles formed of the thermoplastic resin and the filler particles are dispersed in a matrix composed of the water-soluble material, then removing the matrix component and affording the resin particles. In the method, the resin particles having constitution in which the filler particles are fixed on the surfaces of particles composed of the thermoplastic resin or the elastomer having the acidic groups are obtained.
