The present invention is a method of monitoring the bicarbonate and sodium levels of a dialysate prepared while adding a bicarbonate component and an acidic sodium component comprising: a. Adding an acidic sodium component and measuring conductivity (LFist, Na)； b. Adding a bicarbonate component and measuring an increase in conductivity (ΔLFist, Bic) due to the addition of the bicarbonate component； c. Determining the expected increase in conductivity (ΔLFexp, Bic) due to the addition of the bicarbonate component； d. Checking whether the measured conductivity increase (ΔLFist, Bic) is within the expected conductivity increase (ΔLFexp, Bic)； e. Determining the expected total conductivity (LFexp, D) after addition of the bicarbonate component and the acidic sodium component； f. Measuring the total conductivity (LFist, D) after addition of the bicarbonate component and the acidic sodium component； g. Checking whether the measured total conductivity (LFist, D) is within the expected total conductivity (LFexp, D), step a. Measuring conductivity according to step b. Measuring the amount of increase in conductivity according to step f. Relates to a method in which the measurement of the total conductivity by means of the same conductivity measuring cell.
