To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus which magnified alphabetic information such as patient information of a patient and report information, displays and videotape records/prints together with an ultrasonic image when operating a videotape recording button, a printing button or the like for videotape recording or printing the ultrasonic image of the patient under examination and improves the degree of recognition of the alphabetic information ON the videotape recorded/printed ultrasonic image.

SOLUTION: A storage means 28 is provided which stores preset information specifying which metadata among the metadata corresponding to the alphabetic information ON the patient inputted by a first input means 101 is to be magnified and displayed. Upon reception of an output command signal from a second input means 102, the preset information is referred to from the storage means 28, and the specified metadata and the alphabetic information corresponding to the metadata are magnified to a prescribed size and are synthesized to an image data which is obtained by processing the signal received from an ultrasonic probe.
