PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an art which facilitates setting of imaging conditions relating to a prepulse in magnetic resonance imaging compared with a conventional art.SOLUTION: A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes: a first imaging part a first image generating part a calculation part a second imaging part and a second image generating part. The first imaging part executes a first imaging sequence. The first image generating part generates first image data using nuclear magnet resonance signals obtained by execution of the first imaging sequence. The calculation part calculates an application region of a prepulse applied in a second imaging sequence different from the first imaging sequence on the basis of the first image data. The second imaging part executes the second imaging sequence accompanied by application of the prepulse. The second image generating part generates second image data using the nuclear magnetic resonance signals obtained by execution of the second imaging sequence.
