A tensioning mechanism for use with a growing assembly 1, where the growing assembly 1 includes a structure having a length and a width, and a flexible support 19A extends along the structures length. The tensioning mechanism includes a first member 10 that is connected to the flexible support 19A at a point, where the first member 10 is secured to a first reference point so as to be able to move through a range of movement between a first position and a second position. The range of movement of the first member 10 causes the point on the member 10 to move along the length of the structure such that in the first position the first member 10 tensions the flexible support 19A while in the second position the tension in the flexible support 19A is less than in the first position.
