A rotatable rack system for cultivating plants is disclosed. The rack system includes a frame and a plurality of movable trays, each movable tray including a plurality of movable trays including at least one plant and a chain connecting the plurality of movable trays together. A chain supported by the frame and a drive mechanism configured to drive the chain, the frame configured to support the plurality of movable trays and surround the enclosed space. Similarly, several configurations of energy efficient frames are disclosed along with methods for growing plants using the system.
