The present invention provides pyrimidinyl compounds of formula (I) andpharmaceutically acceptable saltsthereof. These compounds may be used for the inhibition of influenza. Inparticular, the compounds of the invention may be used forthe treatment or prophylaxis of influenza A, most particularly H1N1 or H5N1influenza. The compounds of the invention can alsobe used for the treatment or prophylaxis of a disease caused by Vibriocholerae, Clostridium perfringens, Streptococcus pneumoniae,Arthrobacter sialophilus, an orthomyxovirus, a paramyxovirus, a parainfluenzavirus, mumps virus, Newcastle disease virus,fowl plague virus or Sendai virus.
