PURPOSE: An ophthalmologic apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to detect eyeball movements in a short time by detecting the eyeball movements for each template of the same image.CONSTITUTION: An eye-ground image(701) is exposed to infra red light which has a wavelength of 780nm for 0.05 second. A template of two points such as an optic disc(702) and a yellow spot(703) is extracted from a scanning laser ophthalmoscope image. The templates respectively have an area of 1mm by 1mm and 0.5mm by 0.5mm. Centric coordinates of each template is displayed as A702(-2.5,0) and A703(0.5,0). A scan range for movement measurement is established based on the coordinates and the size of each image. The eye-ground image(705) is acquired by scanning with a predetermined scanning range. An eyeball movement amount is measured for 20 seconds.
