The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating brain disease and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition or food composition containing a compound down-regulating the BACE1 protein expression for preventing or treating degenerative brain disease. chlorhexidine, thioguanosine, mebendazole, fenbendazole, colchicine, farnesol, or the like, which is an active ingredient of the composition according to the present invention, has effects of reducing the BACE1 protein expression, inducing the improvement of learning and memory of animals with Alzheimer&prime；s dementia, and inhibiting the generation of A&beta； causing the death of brain neuronal cells. Accordingly, the composition according to the present invention can be useful as a composition for preventing, alleviating, or treating brain disease associated with Alzheimer&prime；s dementia, and can be also used as a functional health food composition.본 발명은 뇌질환의 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 구체적으로는 BACE1 단백질 발현을 감소 조절하는 화합물을 포함하는 퇴행성 뇌질환 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물 또는 식품 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 조성물의 유효성분인 클로르헥시딘(Chlorhexidine), 티오구아노신(Thioguanosine), 메벤다졸(Mebendazole), 펜벤다졸(Fenbendazole), 콜히친(Colchicine), 파르네솔(Farnesol) 등은 BACE1단백질 발현을 감소시키며, 알츠하이머성 치매 동물의 학습과 기억력 향상을 유도하며 뇌 신경 세포의 사멸을 일으키는 Aβ 생성을 억제시키는 효과가 있다. 따라서 본 발명에 따른 조성물은 알츠하이머성 치매 관련 뇌질환의 예방, 개선 또는 치료용 조성물로 유용하게 사용될 수 있으며, 이에 더하여 건강기능식품 조성물로도 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
