PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique in which a motor allows locking pins to hold a lid in a regularly closed state when a pressure sensing switch senses that the pressure inside a chamber due to evacuation reaches a predetermined low pressure in order to provide a technique in which a locking means having a simplified structure holds the lid regularly closed state that the lid is manually closed with a sterilization object housed in the chamber, the lid is attracted to a front opening of the chamber by evacuating the inside of the chamber by using a vacuum pump and a packing is fully compressed.SOLUTION: The steam sterilizer includes: first and second sensing switches for sensing a lid closed state, the locking pins for holding the lid in the regularly closed state in an engaged state in which the pins are engaged on both a lid side locking member and a chamber side locking member, and the motor for allowing the locking pins to operate in an engaged and non-engaged states.
