The magazine (7) has a housing (1) with a cavity for storing lancets. Each lancet includes a lancet body at a proximal end and a lancet tip at a distal end (7a). Each lancet is aligned such that the proximal end of the lancet is aligned in a direction of a proximal end of the housing. An extension unit (2) is movably connected with the housing and extends the housing in a direction of a distal end of the housing for preventing escape of the lancets from the magazine. The lancets are completely surrounded by the housing in a non-use condition. A plastic sleeve is formed around the tip. An independent claim is also included for a method for avoiding reuse of a lancet magazine.
