The present invention is related to a method for deriving shape information ofa persons skull and dentition, comprising the steps of: taking an impressionof the persons dentition, taking a first scan of the persons head,while the person is wearing the impression, taking a second scan of the impressionalone, combining the scans, deriving the shape information from the combinedscans. Advantageously the method further comprises the step of taking a thirdscan of the persons head alone without the impression.
