[Abstract] [Problem] To provide a sewing machine capable of sewing a serpentine zigzag stitch on a cylindrical item to be sewn. [Solution] A sewing machine (1) has: a substantially cylindrical guide member (11) for guiding an item (A) to be sewn a sewing needle (99) for sewing the cylindrical item (A) to be sewn a support member (71) for supporting the sewing needle (99) in a substantially perpendicular state a vertical shuttle (21) for hooking the looped needle thread from the sewing needle (99), and positioned inside the guide member (11) in a manner such that the rotating direction thereof is substantially perpendicular to the axial direction (C) of the guide member (11) a rotating shaft (22) for rotating the vertical shuttle (21) an action means (50) for causing the support member (71) and the rotating shaft (22) to substantially simultaneously move back and forth and a feed roller (183) for feeding the item (A) to be sewn that is positioned on the guide member (11) in a direction opposite the direction of sewing. The feed roller (183) is attached so as to be movable in the axial direction (D) of a rotatable shaft (173).
