The cage (1) has a discharge unit comprising through-openings i.e. angle openings, arranged in a bottom of metal life tray (7) at rear corner of the tray for discharging droppings. Droppings transport pipes (13) are arranged in a position in which the pipes traverse a rear peripheral wall (52) of a parallelepiped frame (2). Each pipe has a main pipe section (14) exterior to the cage, and a lower end of the section opens into a droppings collector (20).
