Provided is a sanitary device comprising a channelling portion 12 for channelling urine, and a portion 14 for contacting that provides a pair of gripping portions 16 configured to be held between the thighs of a user when pressed together. The gripping surfaces may be textured. The device may be resiliently biased to resist inward movement of the gripping portions and may form an hour-glass shape. The channelling device may provide a receptacle for containing the urine, or may define an outlet which may be attached to a bag 18.
