The endoscopic image processing system comprises: a detection unit that detects at least one of the type of electronic endoscope connected to the endoscopic image processing system, which is detected based on information inherent to the electronic endoscope, and the type of image pickup device incorporated in the connected electronic endoscope an image processing unit that performs predetermined processing on the image signal produced by the electronic endoscope according to the signal level of the image signal and a domain designation unit that, when the detection unit detects the type of electronic endoscope on the basis of the information inherent to the connected electronic endoscope, designates a first domain to be processed by the image processing unit within the image data, which is carried by the image signal produced by the electronic endoscope, according to the detected type of electronic endoscope.
