An insertion device (100, 1100) for inserting an infusion device (102) at leastpartially into skin for subcutaneous infusion can comprise a sleeve (106, 1106)having a lower surface (176) that is configured to engage the skin, a shuttle orcarriage (116, 1116) to carry the infusion device (102) between a retracted positionand an advanced position at least a first biasing member (108, 1108) to urge theshuttle or carriage (116, 1116) toward the advanced position, and an actuator(104, 1104) to cause the first biasing member (108, 1108) to urge the carriagefrom the retracted position to the advanced position. In some embodiments, theinsertion device (100, 1100) can further comprise a hub (110, 1110) and at leasta second biasing member (114, 1114) to urge the hub away from the shuttle or carriage(116, 1116). In some embodiments, the insertion device (100, 3 100) can furthercomprise a needle (112, 1112) attached to the hub (110, 1110). Methods for insertingan infusion device and various other features that can be comprised by an insertiondevice (100, 1100) are also disclosed.
