PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of creating an AMD model animal of a nonhuman primate, and a method of evaluating an effect of a test substance for the prevention or the treatment of the AMD and a method of screening the substance having the effect of the prevention or the treatment of the AMD by using the AMD model animal created by the method.SOLUTION: A method of creating an AMD model animal is characterized by administering a sodium Iodate in a vitreous body of an animal individual of a nonhuman primate. Also, the AMD model animal of the nonhuman primate is created by the method of creating the AMD model animal.
