<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire with high joint strength and excellent operability. <;P>;SOLUTION: The guide wire 1 is to be inserted into a catheter and used, and includes a fourth wire 6 disposed to a distal end side, a second wire 3 disposed to a proximal end side of the fourth wire 6, a first wire 2 disposed to the distal end side of the fourth wire 6, a third wire 5 disposed to the distal end side of the first wire 2, and a helical coil 4. In the guide wire 1, the first wire 2 is constituted of a Ni-Ti based alloy, the second wire 3 is constituted of a material with elastic modulus higher than that of the constitution material of the first wire 2, and the third wire 5 is constituted of a Ni based alloy mainly containing Ni.
