PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a suitable corrective magnetic field and improve the uniformity of the static magnetic field.
SOLUTION: A shim controller 13 measures the strength distribution characteristic of the static magnetic field generated by a magnet 1 of the static magnetic field. The shim controller 13 determines correction amounts for first- to nth-order (n is a natural number of two or more) components of the strength distribution characteristic by fixing the correction amount for specific components which are part of the first- to nth-order components at a predetermined amount and determining the correction amounts for other components than the specific components on the basis of the strength distribution characteristic. A shim coil unit 11 and a shim coil power supply 12 generate correction magnetic fields to correct the static magnetic field on the basis of the correction amounts.
