PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vaccine that can prevent human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) in latent infection from being activated and producing a disease.SOLUTION: This invention relates to: the vaccine against the HCMV, comprising a plurality of peptides (and immunologically functional variants thereof) which are immunogenic epitopes recognized by CD8+ class I MHC restricted cytotoxic T-lymphocytes of patients harboring latent HCMV infection or a lipidated peptide, a DNA adjuvant, or a cellular vaccine having antigen presenting cells and virus vector vaccine for coding the peptide.
