The present invention relates to a modified bacterium of the genus Bordetella comprising novel Bordetella LPS and such modified LPS. The LPS of the present invention has reduced tolerance to the unmodified Bordetella LPS. Thus, the modified LPS of the present invention is particularly suitable for use in inducing or stimulating an immune response in a subject, wherein the immune response is induced or stimulated against Bordetella infection. Modified Bordetella LPS of the invention can be obtained by introducing expression of heterologous acyl transferase into Bordetella cells.
