A safety needle assembly comprising: a cone (20) that includes a proximal end (24) for connection to a syringe and a distal end (22); a cannula (40) that includes a proximal end (44) connected to the distal end of the cone (20), the cannula (40) also includes a lumen that passes through it and a distal end (46); a collar (50) formed separately from the cone (20) and mounted on the cone (20), the collar (50) that is rotatably fixed on the cone (20) and that includes a mounting portion of the sheath; a protector (70) located on the cannula (40) and covering the distal end (46) of the cannula (40), the protector (70) that is removable to expose the cannula (40) that includes the end (46) distal; a sheath (80) provided with an opening (86) extending along at least a part of a longitudinal extension of the sheath (80), the sheath (80) which is located outside the protector (70) when the protector (70) is positioned on the cannula (40), the sheath (80) which is rotatably connected to the part of the collar sheath assembly (50) so that it rotates, after removing the protector (70) for exposing the cannula (40), towards the cannula (40) so that the cannula (40) passes through the opening (86) in the sheath (80) and is covered by the sheath (80), characterized in that the Cone (20) has an outer surface provided with two spaced sets of projections (30, 32) that extend outwardly each extending over less than half of a circumferential extent of the outer surface of the cone (20), the collar (50) that includes an inner surface provided with a plurality of projections (56) extending into or, the projections (56) extending inwardly by engaging the projections (30, 32) extending outwardly in each assembly to rotatably fix the collar (50) on the cone (20) and the cone (20) includes a recessed annular region (36) located distally of the projections (30, 32) on the cone (20), the collar (50) which includes an annular flange (57) directed inwardly positioned distally of the projections
