602609 Disclosed is a method and system for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia of a prostate using a minimally invasive approach. The method comprises inserting a vapour delivery needle through a urethral wall of the patient in a plurality or locations into the prostate lobe. Condensable water vapour (250) is delivered through the needle into the prostate at each location. A continuous lobe region is ablated parallel to the urethral wall. The system comprises a shaft (105) a vapour delivery needle a scope bore (115) a water vapour source (250) and a vapour delivery actuator (210). The shaft (105) is adapted to be inserted into a male urethra. The needle is located in the shaft (105) and comprises an exit port. The scope bore (115) is located in the shaft (105) and sized to accommodate an endoscope. The vapour delivery actuator (210) is adapted to deliver water vapour from the water vapour source (250) into the vapour delivery needle and out of the vapour exit port.
