PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grip detection structure that allows an engine halting process by a deadmans control to be carried out for certain with a simple structure, the deadmans control being used with a work machine operated by gripping a handle.SOLUTION: An electrode 21 on an inner peripheral side, an insulating body 22 made of an elastic material, an outside electrode 23, and an insulating outer cover 24 are laminated on a grip 5a of a handle 5 of a rammer 1, starting from the handle 5 side. Also included is a stop circuit 15 that actuates an ignition system while conductivity is maintained between both electrodes. An inward protrusion 23a that protrudes toward the inner peripheral side electrode from the outside electrode is disposed as a contact point in a detection range b outside of a workers range a opposite a rammer base body 2 side. Even when an operator is trapped between the grip and a wall and others behind the grip, the workers range is not sensitive to grip detection. As such, grip detection is not made even when a part of the body comes in contact in a rod-form, and operation may be halted by letting go of a hand. This allows an engine halting process to be carried out for certain with a simple structure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
