PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a food tablet disintegrating in the oral cavity, which utilizes the excellent disintegration properties of high-purity crystalline maltitol particles, with a combination use of a specific disintegration agent and a vehicle having improved binding/bonding capability, of which deficiency has been a conventional disadvantage.SOLUTION: A vehicle component includes crystalline maltitol fine powder having an average particle size of 15 to 45 &mum composed of 70% or more of particles with a particle size of 75 &mum or less and 50% or less of particles with a particle size of 15 &mum or less, with a maltitol purity of 98% or higher. The vehicle component is granulated with or without addition of a food active ingredient, so that granules having an average grain size (median size) of 80 to 350 &mum are prepared. The granules are mixed with a disintegrator selected from agar, carboxymethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose calcium, carboxymethyl cellulose sodium, carboxymethyl cellulose starch sodium, hydroxypropyl starch, and starch sodium glycolate, such that a tablet has a vehicle content of 35 to 98 mass%. The mixture is compressed into a food tablet disintegrating in oral cavity, having a hardness of 3.5 kgf or more and a disintegration time of 45 seconds or less.
