PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter that prevents obstruction of movement (including insertion and removal operations) of a guide wire in a guide wire lumen even when ethanol is fed to the guide wire lumen with the guide wire inserted therein, and also having excellent followability of a blood vessel shape.SOLUTION: A balloon catheter of observer wire type includes an inner tube 41, an outer tube 43, and a balloon 45. The inner tube 41 includes: a proximal end 46 that has an inner layer 48 formed of a resin having good ethanol resistance and that has relatively high rigidity； and a distal tip part 47 formed of a resin and having relatively low rigidity.
