The system (1) consists of horizontal nets (A, B) supported along one edge by rows of posts (6) linked by cables or wires (3) and having their other edges tensioned by elastic cords (2) so that the adjoining edges (8) of two nets form a zigzag line over the alley between two rows of fruit-bearing trees or bushes. The elastic cords (2) have hooks (4) on their ends that are connected to plastic reinforcing plates (7) on the net edges spaced at 2 - 5 m intervals. The nets are able to sag under the weight of hail until gaps form between their adjoining edges that drop the hailstones onto the ground without impact.
