PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diastolic heart failure model animal and a method for producing the same producible in a short period of time, low in cost, easy to produce, and suitably usable for research on the onset mechanism of diastolic heart failure, the course after the onset, and prevention or treatment methods, and to provide a method for screening a substance that has diastolic heart failure preventing or symptom improving activity.SOLUTION: A method for producing a non-human animal model of diastolic heart failure includes a step of dosing a non-human animal with angiotensin II or pharmacologically allowable salt thereof, wherein drinking water is a saline solution. The non-human animal model of diastolic heart failure is produced by this producing method.
