The wheelchair has a mirror-image type braking device braking a wheel. A brake lever (8) of the device communicates with a mechanism i.e. toggle lever mechanism, which is engaged by a braking element (4) i.e. brake bolt, in a free-wheeling position, in which the wheel is not braked by the braking element, and in a determination position in which the wheel is braked by the braking element. The brake lever is rigidly coupled with the mechanism in the freewheel position and hinged when the braking element is in the determination position.
