The pharmacological aspects of the plant derived product will be a boon to the humankind with many unknown diseases that becomes lethal day by day. Annona muricata, belonging to Annonaceae family is a medicinal plant that contains many natural therapeutic and pharmaceutical properties, where the studies and research works were being carried out in cancer, leukemia, bacterial infection, viral replication, etc. The plant was collected from the southern districts of TamilNadu and it was washed thoroughly and shadow dried. It was ground into fine powder for the process of extraction by Soxhlet method. The solvents used here were ethanol, chloroform anddouble distilled water, according to the polarity. After extraction, their dry weigh and wet weight were calculated. The phytochemical analysis of the crude extract confirms the presence of phytocompdunds like, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, glycosides, cardiac glycosides, etc. The thin layer chromatography was carried out on the silica gel plates with different mobile phases. The antimicrobial activity was studied for both bacterial and fungal strains by both Disc diffusion and Well diffusion method for Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus for bacterial studies and Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans for the fungal studies. The dry sample was given for structural elucidation of the compound by GC-MS to quantify and identify the constituentsthat were present in higher percentage.
